Nobody taught us this in school either.
SleptonTools exists because most financial app reviews are written by people who've never actually opened the fine print. We open the fine print. That's the whole pitch.
Why this site exists
Somewhere between "just budget better" and a 40-page prospectus, most people give up on getting a straight answer about which finance app is actually worth their money. Every review site seems to give every app five stars, every comparison reads like it was written by the marketing department, and the actual fees are buried three clicks deep in a help center nobody visits.
SleptonTools exists for people who were never taught how money works in school, and who are tired of being sold to instead of informed. We test the budgeting apps, investing platforms, and money tools that actually show up in real people's lives, and we say plainly what each one is good at and where it falls short.
How we actually test things
Every price on this site is verified with a fresh search the same day an article is written or updated — not copied from a year-old post. App pricing changes constantly; stale numbers are the fastest way to lose a reader's trust.
We never give everything five stars. If a tool has a real weakness — a hidden fee, an expiring match, a clunky feature — we name it in the review, not in a footnote.
Our specialty is the detail buried in the terms of service: the match that only applies year one, the fee that charges 48 hours after you agree, the transfer cost nobody mentions until you try to leave.
Affiliate commissions never influence which tool wins a comparison. A partner paying well and performing badly still gets called out as performing badly.
How this site makes money
Two ways, both disclosed on every relevant page:
We don't run display ads (yet), don't accept payment for a favorable review, and don't let a partner see or edit a draft before it publishes.
Who's behind it
SleptonTools is an independent project. We're not a large editorial staff — we're a small operation that believes a website can be honest, current, and useful without needing a masthead of twenty writers to prove it. Every article is fact-checked against the provider's own pricing pages before it's published or updated.
Questions, corrections, or a tip on a fee we missed?
If you spot outdated pricing or a mistake anywhere on this site, we want to know — accuracy is the entire point of what we do.
